My latest book Where Did We Come From? A simple exploration of the universe, evolution, and physics is now available online or wherever books are sold!
New book announcement! Sorry I'm a bit late, but I don't think many people are buying books immediately after the holiday season ;)
My latest book Where Did We Come From? A simple exploration of the universe, evolution, and physics is now available online or wherever books are sold! If you've read my previous book for adults, then you might think of this as the "kids version" of Where Did The Universe Come From? And Other Cosmic Questions.
This is a picture book targeted at ages 4 to 8. In it we take a journey from the beginning of the universe all the way to the present, where we circle back around to find out how we know (through science) where we came form.
The book has the same cadence as one of my favourites, First the Egg by Laura Vaccaro Seeger. If you haven't read First the Egg, I recommend it! It is very simple in its use of words, buy visually and conceptually very deep. I try to mirror that in my book.
Where Did We Come From? starts "First the Quark" and builds up a universe from these elementary particles. In that universe life evolves into intelligent beings (us!) who design science experiments to probe the structure of matter. They smash particles together to find out what they are made of... quarks! At the back of the book there are explanations of the illustrations on each page to help with those extra why questions ;)
I hope you enjoy Where Did We Come From? as much as I have reading to my children. I'm looking forward to getting out there to read it to many children at schools and libraries again soon!
